Senior/Principal Scientist, Biology

Twentyeight-Seven Therapeutics is looking for a full-time Senior Scientist/Principal Scientist (dependent on qualifications) to join our growing Biology team. This individual will utilize their strong lab-based technical expertise and critical thinking skills to support and potentially lead the company’s target discovery/validation efforts. We are offering a competitive salary and benefits package for an individual with the following qualifications and experience:

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical leadership to identify, validate and elucidate the driving biology of novel RNA-modifying proteins in disease models
  • Application of cell and molecular biology techniques including genome editing techniques and various forms of RNA/small RNA sequencing
  • Integration with informatics leader to identify targets, pathways of action, and/or biomarkers
  • Lead the experimental design, execution, and interpretation of results to support preclinical and translational goals
  • Evaluate and implement technologies to advance understanding of RNA biology
  • Directly manage contract research organizations (CRO) for outsourced activities as needed (e.g., sequencing, profiling).
  • Participate in and present results at internal group meetings

Qualifications

  • Ph.D. with 3-5 years industry experience or M.S. with 7+ years experience in molecular biology, oncology or related field
  • Experience with si/shRNA, CRISPR, qPCR, Western blot, and cell culture.
  • Demonstrated scientific rigor in cancer biology and/or in the elucidation of RNA-dependent regulatory mechanisms
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, with attention to detail
  • Proven team player among cross-functional disciplines
  • Motivated, independent self-starter comfortable in a dynamic, fast-paced start-up environment
  • Immunology, immune-oncology experience a plus
  • Previous supervisory experience preferred
