Research Associate, Biology

We are looking for a full-time Research Associate to join our growing Biology team. This individual will utilize their strong lab-based technical expertise to support the company’s drug discovery efforts. We are offering a competitive salary and benefits package for an individual with the following qualifications and experience:

Responsibilities

  • Design, execute, analyze, and interpret in vitro cell-based assays to profile compounds for hit discovery
  • Develop and validate new cell-based assays, optimize for routine compound profiling
  • Design and conduct cellular biology experiments for exploratory and program-specific targets using small molecules and/or siRNA/CRISPR
  • Apply molecular biology techniques including qPCR, Western blot, and ELISA, to quantify mRNA/miRNA and protein levels
  • Proactively recognize and solve technical issues
  • Work collaboratively with team to prioritize experiments to meet project timelines and goals
  • Communicate data and project status regularly at internal meetings
  • Contribute to general laboratory maintenance, including lab equipment maintenance, ordering and organizing of supplies

Qualifications

  • S. in cell biology or related field with at least two years of hands-on experience in a lab setting, expertise in mammalian cell culture is required
  • Proficient technical expertise in various cell-based assays (cell proliferation, reporter assays), and protein expression assays (Western Blot, ELISA)
  • Expertise in working with RNA samples using qPCR
  • Experience with cell-based assay development and optimization, compound screening, data analysis and reporting into internal databases
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Enthusiastic team player, with ability to work among cross-functional disciplines, proven experience to work collaboratively
  • Highly motivated, dependable, self-starter able to thrive in a fast-paced start-up environment
  • Willingness to quickly learn and master new techniques in the lab
  • Experience with data analysis software (Excel, GraphPad Prism)
  • Understanding of immunology/inflammation is desirable
  • Experience working with in vivo tissue samples, PBMCs and/or whole blood is also desirable
